Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder
Wembley Arena - 7/9/1980
Stevie Wonder is one of my heroes, and ’Songs in the key of life’ one of the greatest albums ever. His show at Wembley Arena was 3 hours long with an interval. When he was brought back for the 2nd half, he was led to the front of the stage, dressed as little Stevie Wonder in a Sta-Pressed suit. He played ’Fingertips’ on the harmonica, and was using the lip of the stage to balance while he swayed to the music. Half his shoes were off the stage and there were moments when he was getting so into his harmonica that I thought he’d lose his balance and fall on my head! On the very last song, he said »I’d like to bring on a couple of guests« and to my amazement he brought on Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. There were tears of joy in my eyes, the kings and queen of Motown all in one frame - happiness!
